Sept. 7, 2010-Live demonstrations of commercially available, cutting-edge technologies including 3D triple-play video, online data backup and high-definition video surveillance will give attendees at the 2010 FTTH Conference & Expo a view of the services and applications enabled by commercially available WDM-PON Ethernet Access solutions from LG-Ericsson, a joint venture of LG Electronics and Ericsson.

The Ethernet Access 1100 portfolio, developed by LG-Ericsson, was recently added to the Rural Utility Services (RUS) List of Materials, allowing it to be used on telecommunications systems run by rural telephone companies rolling out fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) triple-play services in rural communities across the United States.

LG-Ericsson’s range of Ethernet Access solutions will power the demonstrations of FTTH capabilities as the LG-Ericsson brand makes its North American debut at the conference, to be held in Las Vegas from 12 to 16 of September. LG-Ericsson will be at stand #719.

LG-Ericsson will also be a leading participant at the WDM-PON workshop, organized by the WDM-PON Forum, to be held concurrently with the FTTH Conference & Expo. This industry-first workshop will bring together leading players across the WDM-PON industry to discuss strategies for taking the technology from its present state, to become a viable technology for widespread commercial deployment.

“Whether in the center of the United States’ largest cities or in its most rural areas, LG-Ericsson’s WDM-PON solutions provide a cost-effective and high-performance option that delivers next-generation services today,” said Giovanni Manto, General Manager, Ethernet Fiber Access, LG-Ericsson. “We look forward to demonstrating these solutions and services to potential customers at the FTTH Conference & Expo.”

The LG-Ericsson Ethernet Access 1100 solution uses a single fiber connection to the home or office to provide users with access to applications and symmetrical services at speeds of 100Mbps or 1Gbps. This not only allows rural telephone companies to offer high-performance business applications, bundled voice, video and Internet services over a single connection to the home, but can create new revenue opportunities based on future high-bandwidth applications.
