Ericsson appoints new head of region North East Asia

  • Effective April 1, 2013, Jan Signell is appointed Head of Region North East Asia and a member of Ericsson's Global Leadership Team
  • Jan is currently Head of Ericsson Japan within Region North East Asia.
  • Jan succeeds Mats H Olsson who is appointed Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific (APAC), as previously announced.

Ericsson today announced that effective April 1, 2013, Jan Signell is appointed Head of Region North East Asia and a member of Ericsson's Global Leadership Team, reporting to the Chairman of Region North East Asia and Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific, Mats H Olsson. Jan will be responsible for Ericsson’s operations in Region North East Asia covering the markets of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

President and CEO Hans Vestberg said: "Jan has amassed significant experience in Asia, and most recently, is doing a remarkable job leading Ericsson in one of the most advanced telecom markets in the world, Japan. Region North East Asia is at the forefront in LTE and ICT development and a strategically important region for Ericsson. Jan will bring his extensive experience and strong leadership to enhance Ericsson’s support to the leading operators and their technology savvy customers as well as reach out to new customers in the region.”

Prior to taking on the role of Head of Ericsson Japan within Region North East Asia in 2012, Jan has held various executive positions within Ericsson, in Asia, since 1989. He served as the Head of the Ericsson APAC Innovation Center, Senior Advisor to Ericson CEO and Chairman for Ericsson Malaysia since 2010. From 2005, Jan was Head of Ericsson South East Asia and was overall responsible for Ericsson’s operations in the ASEAN and the South Pacific regions as well as for Bangladesh, leading a regional team of 4,500 employees.

Jan succeeds Mats H Olsson who is appointed Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific as previously announced.

Ericsson is continuing to strengthen its focus in Region North East Asia. Jan has been tasked, with the support of Mats H Olsson, to ensure Ericsson’s continuous success in this region.

Jan Signell will remain in his current role as Head of Ericsson Japan until a successor has been appointed.
