Held Girls in ICT idea competition for female undergraduate/graduate
Invited 10 selected teams out of a total of 45 teams of 101 students to the
Pitching Day event
Offered a certificate, a plaque, prize money, and an internship opportunity
during vacation to the three finalists
is organizing the Girls in ICT event every year to commemorate International
Women's Day to support women's entry into the ICT industry. This year, it
attracted the attention of young female talents who dreamed career development
in ICT field by holding an idea contest to change the world through ICT technology
for female students. A total of 45 teams of 101 students presented a variety of
ideas on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined by UN.
selected 10 teams were invited to the Pitching Day event at Ericsson-LG
headquarters on the 17th, and they had a presentation and Q & A on each
idea. The evaluation was done by Ericsson-LG executives including Patrick
Johansson Ericsson-LG CEO based on the criteria of clarity, innovation, and execution.
The three finalist were AEY team from Ulsan University of Science and
Technology, HIT TECH team from Chonnam National University, and Jjangbojjang
with friends team from Gachon University, and they will be offered internship
opportunities during their vacations with certificates, plaques and prizes.
Lee, HIT TECH team, said: "We
had some difficulties in the technical part at first, but we had improved lot
by researching and consulting with my team members. Winning this prize makes me
more confident now, and taking this opportunity, I will develop further."
Johansson, CEO of Ericsson, said: "We believe that diversity drives us
further. You should be evaluated with your ability and passion without any discrimination
such as gender, race, religion, etc. I hope that this event will provide a
chance for young female talents to become more active in the ICT industry.
"We will continue to support the search and training of female talents at
the enterprise level."
