Ericsson-LG launched Global ICT Platform Taskforce to introduce Korea’s outstanding public-sector software, including e-government and health care solutions, to the global market. On November 18, Ericsson-LG opened the taskforce office at Nuritkum Square in Sangam-dong, Seoul, Korea.

Ericsson-LG has been establishing mid-to-long-term business strategy for about six months starting in May for the taskforce project. Based on the strategy, the company is planning to establish a foundation for global ICT CBI (Cloud, Big Data, IoT) platform and roll out related services.

The company explained that it launched a taskforce to mobilize voluminous investment and strengthen partnership to remove impediments to the export of Korea’s competent public-sector solutions like e-government—primarily the lack of solution based on a standardized platform.

The taskforce is led by Park Jeongbae, ICT division head of Ericsson-LG, and is organized of 20 key members and experts in diverse areas from e-government to health care solutions.

At the office opening ceremony on Nov. 18, participants included Yoon Jong-lok, president of National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) and Han Ho-seong, vice president of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. “With joint efforts of private and public sectors, small but competent ICT and software firms would be able to grow to be global players,” said president Yoon. “I expect that our hospital and Ericsson-LG will work closely together to produce excellent outcomes in IT solution and various platform areas,” said vice president Han.

“This is an excellent opportunity to work with globally acclaimed Korean players like SNUBH to lay foundations for global ICT platform businesses, and I hope that Ericsson’s global business capacity and extensive success cases would provide useful guidance in the future partnership,” said Patrick Johansson, new chief executive of Ericsson-LG.
