Based on unprecedented data processing speed and ultra-low latency requirements, 5G optimizes and processes large amounts of data for various service purposes than any previous generation technology. Stable 5G coverage and performance are more important than ever in the evolution of 5G including SA and the demands of the market. Ericsson Uplink Booster provides connectivity for various 5G services with differentiated 5G architecture and sophisticated reception algorithm.

Ericsson Uplink Booster is based on the eCPRI industry standard and applies the optimal physical layer segmentation option. The beamforming processor was implemented on the radio unit rather than on the digital unit (DU) to minimize the data processing capacity through the front hole. Through this, beamforming performance is maximized by processing radio channel information faster and more accurately. Therefore, 5G coverage dependent on uplink is also extended at the same time.

In order to provide a stable 5G service, it is important to secure downlink and uplink coverage simultaneously for service users or terminals. In particular, it can be said that in the case of high-resolution CCTV or autonomous vehicles that require large-scale uplink data transmission, securing uplink performance is essential.

A self-test conducted in Sweden by turning the uplink booster on and off showed 90% app coverage improvement and uplink performance improvement. In addition, the benchmark test conducted in a commercial network in North America confirmed that the uplink performance difference was confirmed.
